Renault has officially commenced exports of the new-generation Duster from its manufacturing facility in Chennai, India, with the first shipment of 750 sport utility vehicles (SUVs) destined for South Africa.

The milestone marks a significant step in Renault’s global export strategy and reinforces India’s growing importance as a manufacturing and export hub for the French automaker.

The Duster, one of Renault’s most successful and recognizable models worldwide, now joins the company’s expanding export portfolio as demand for SUVs continues to grow across international markets.

First Batch of 750 Dusters Heads to South Africa

The inaugural export consignment comprises 750 units of the newly launched Duster, all manufactured at Renault’s Chennai production facility.

South Africa has been selected as the first overseas market to receive the India-built SUV, highlighting the country’s importance within Renault’s African growth strategy.

The company indicated that additional international markets are expected to receive the new Duster in the coming months as part of a broader export programme.

The move expands Renault’s global reach while strengthening trade ties between India and key automotive markets.

India Emerges as Strategic Export Hub

Renault has increasingly positioned India as a critical pillar of its global manufacturing operations.

The company cited India’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem, skilled workforce and competitive production capabilities as major factors supporting its export ambitions.

According to Renault Group India Chief Executive Officer Stephane Deblaise, India will continue playing a strategic role in the company’s long-term growth plans.

Renault is targeting annual export revenues of approximately Rs 25,000 crore by 2030, underscoring the importance of exports in its future business strategy.

The latest Duster shipment further reinforces India’s position as a production base for global markets.

Duster Joins Renault’s Export Portfolio

The new-generation Duster becomes the latest model exported from Renault’s Indian operations.

It joins a lineup that already includes several popular models exported to international markets, including the Renault Kwid, Triber and Kiger.

Renault currently exports vehicles manufactured in India to around 14 countries across Africa, Asia and other global regions.

The company has been exporting vehicles from India since 2012 and has steadily expanded its international footprint over the past decade.

South Africa Receives India-Spec Duster

Interestingly, the vehicles being shipped to South Africa are based on the same specifications offered to Indian consumers.

The SUV features Renault’s latest design language, including distinctive Duster badging on the front grille, redesigned headlamps, updated tail lamps and a more muscular exterior profile.

Other styling enhancements include modern lighting elements and newly designed alloy wheels that contribute to the model’s rugged SUV character.

The shipment also includes units of the limited-edition Iconic Launch Edition, which offers additional styling and equipment upgrades.

Multiple Variants Available

The new Renault Duster is available in several trim levels designed to cater to different customer preferences and budgets.

The lineup includes the Authentic, Evolution, Techno, Techno Plus and Iconic variants.

Pricing in the Indian market currently ranges from Rs 10.49 lakh to Rs 18.49 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning the Duster competitively within the compact and midsize SUV segment.

Engine Options Cater to Diverse Buyers

Renault offers the Duster with three powertrain options.

The entry-level variant is powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission.

Customers seeking greater performance can opt for the 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine, available with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The range is topped by a 1.8-litre strong hybrid powertrain that combines a petrol engine with electric assistance to improve fuel efficiency and overall performance.

The inclusion of hybrid technology reflects growing consumer demand for more efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles.

Feature-Rich SUV Targets Global Buyers

Renault has equipped the new Duster with an extensive range of comfort, technology and convenience features.

Key highlights include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.

Additional premium features include a panoramic sunroof, wireless smartphone charging, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats and ambient interior lighting.

The SUV also offers a powered tailgate, multiple driving modes and keyless entry with push-button start, enhancing both practicality and driving comfort.

Export Expansion Supports Renault’s Global Growth

The launch of Duster exports represents another important milestone in Renault’s international expansion strategy.

The previous-generation Duster was among the first Renault models exported from India and played a significant role in establishing the company’s presence in overseas markets.

With the new-generation model now entering global markets, Renault aims to build on that legacy while strengthening its position in the highly competitive SUV segment.

As exports expand beyond South Africa, the Duster is expected to contribute significantly to Renault’s ambitions of increasing international sales and reinforcing India’s role as a major automotive export centre.
