Egypt is strengthening its export strategy through a new partnership with global logistics operator DP World aimed at improving market access for Egyptian products across Africa.

The initiative forms part of the country’s broader efforts to increase exports, improve trade logistics and position Egypt as a leading regional trade and distribution hub connecting Africa, the Middle East and global markets.

During high-level discussions, Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Mohamed Farid, said stronger collaboration with international logistics companies will help domestic exporters become more competitive while reducing supply chain costs.

Logistics To Drive Export Growth

The Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade is implementing a comprehensive programme to modernise Egypt’s investment and export ecosystem by simplifying trade procedures, improving logistics infrastructure and enhancing coordination between public institutions and private industry.

Officials believe efficient transport networks and integrated supply chain services will enable Egyptian businesses to reach African customers faster and at lower cost.

The ministry is also seeking closer cooperation between Egypt’s export councils and DP World to identify sector-specific logistics requirements and improve access to warehousing, transportation and distribution services.

Priority export sectors include food processing, agricultural products, chemicals, building materials, ready-made garments and engineering products.

Africa Presents Major Growth Opportunity

African markets are becoming an increasingly important destination for Egyptian exports as businesses seek to benefit from regional trade integration and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Government believes stronger logistics connections will help exporters expand their presence across the continent while increasing the competitiveness of Egyptian manufactured goods.

Reducing transport costs and improving supply chain efficiency are expected to support higher export volumes and strengthen trade relationships with African economies.

Officials say expanding exports will also contribute to private sector growth and broader economic development.

DP World Expands Regional Investment

DP World, one of the world’s largest logistics companies, operates an extensive network of ports, logistics parks, distribution centres and supply chain services in more than 85 countries.

The company manages Egypt’s Sokhna Port, which handles a significant share of the country’s international trade, and is investing further in expanding logistics infrastructure through the Sokhna Logistics Park.

The project is expected to strengthen Egypt’s role as a regional centre for trade, re-export and cargo distribution serving African, Middle Eastern and international markets.

DP World also confirmed it is ready to support Egyptian exporters through its established logistics network across Africa, offering integrated transportation, storage, cargo handling and distribution services.

Strengthening Regional Trade Integration

The partnership reflects Egypt’s ambition to leverage modern logistics infrastructure to boost exports while taking advantage of growing trade opportunities across Africa.

As regional trade continues to expand under the AfCFTA framework, stronger logistics partnerships are becoming increasingly important for improving supply chain efficiency and reducing barriers to cross-border commerce.

With continued investment in ports, logistics facilities and transport networks, Egypt aims to strengthen its position as one of Africa’s leading export gateways while supporting businesses seeking to access fast-growing consumer and industrial markets across the continent.
