Sibanye-Stillwater has appointed seasoned mining capital markets specialist Emma Chapman as its new Senior Vice-President of Investor Relations, with her appointment taking effect on 1 September 2026.
The appointment forms part of the company’s strategy to strengthen engagement with global investors while supporting the execution of its long-term value creation and business transformation plans.
Chapman brings nearly 15 years of experience in mining capital markets and investor relations, having advised executive leadership teams and boards on investor engagement, strategic positioning, capital allocation and shareholder value creation. Her experience spans several major international financial markets, including the FTSE, JSE, TSX and NYSE, supported by a strong background in accounting and corporate finance.
She joins Sibanye-Stillwater from Teck Resources, where she currently serves as Vice-President of Investor Relations. During her tenure, she played a key role in guiding investor communications through a period of significant corporate transformation and portfolio restructuring.
Before joining Teck Resources, Chapman spent almost a decade at Anglo American Platinum, where she served as Head of Investor Relations and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG). In that role, she helped strengthen the company’s investment proposition and expand its international shareholder base.
Earlier in her career, Chapman worked in corporate broking and investment banking at Citigroup before joining PricewaterhouseCoopers in corporate finance, where she qualified as a Chartered Accountant. She also holds a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Economics from the University of Bath and has completed the Programme for Leadership Development at Harvard Business School.
Chapman will succeed James Wellsted, who is transitioning to the Group Transformation Office as Executive Vice-President for Business Analytics and Improvement. In his new position, Wellsted will focus on implementing Sibanye-Stillwater’s simplified operating model, improving business planning and benchmarking performance to support the company’s refreshed growth strategy.
The company acknowledged Wellsted’s significant contribution over the past 13 years, noting that his experience will continue to play an important role as Sibanye-Stillwater accelerates the delivery of its strategic objectives.
Commenting on the appointment, Chief Executive Officer Richard Stewart said Chapman has earned a strong reputation within the global mining investment community through her industry knowledge, strategic insight and ability to engage effectively with investors across multiple international markets.
He added that her expertise will strengthen the company’s relationships with shareholders and support its commitment to delivering sustainable long-term value as it continues executing its business transformation strategy.
