Earthmoving equipment plays a critical role in many industries – particularly in mining and quarrying, construction and materials handling – which rely on durable machines that ensure high productivity, safe operation and minimal downtime in tough conditions.
HPE Africa’s robust Hyundai machines, which integrate advanced technology, durable materials and smart safety features, have been engineered to offer the highest standards in Africa’s challenging environment.
“Our Hyundai range – which comprises wheel loaders, excavators, motor graders and TLB’s – has earned an enviable reputation globally, in terms of productivity, cost-efficiency and low maintenance,” says Ross Collard, Managing Director of HPE Africa. “Every design element is focused on enhancing precision, power and versatility—giving operators the tools they need to work smarter and achieve greater profitability.
“Apart from proven quality features of equipment, our customers rely on the ready availability of Hyundai genuine parts, to ensure the highest levels of performance, reliability and safety from every machine. What’s also important to equipment owners is the support of our local team, which offers a skilled technical and after-sales service throughout Southern Africa.
“A notable machine is our range is the Hyundai HL775-9 wheel loader, which is gaining popularity locally – especially in construction and materials handling, as well as and mining and quarrying sectors. Feedback from our customers is that this machine safely handles the toughest tasks with greater speed and accuracy, offering improved productivity, enhanced safety and higher profitability.”
The HL775-9 wheel loader – with an operating weight of 24 100 kg – is fitted with an eco-friendly, low noise Tier 3 Cummins QSM11 engine that delivers fuel-efficient operation and net power of 213 kW@ 2 000 rpm.
An advanced hydraulic system has been developed to enhance precision and improve productivity, making the -9 series wheel loader easy to control.
This series offers fully automatic transmission designed for reduced power loss, improved travel speed and low noise levels. Upgraded clutch control and minimised shifting shock when travelling, contribute to a smoother ride.
The highly efficient variable power control has different power modes that enable operators to customise automatic transmission shift timing and clutch cut-off activation to suit specific working conditions. The versatility of these modes improves productivity, enhances operator comfort and reduces fuel consumption. The optional ride control system, which is easily turned on or off with an overhead switch, has a shock absorbing accumulator that cushions the boom to improve operator comfort and reduce material loss.
Other important features for enhanced durability and reliability include a long-life cooling system and resistance to thermal shock, impulse and vibration. The remote mounted, hydraulically powered cooling fan regulates fan speed according to working temperatures for coolant, intake air, transmission oil and hydraulic oil. This new fan design contributes to efficient fuel consumption and reduced machine noise.
An enhanced axle design improves driving performance over variable ground conditions, while self-adjusting brakes automatically regulate disc clearance, reduce service time and improve brake reliability.
This robust machine has a heavy-duty lifting capacity, with a fast cycle timer raise of 5,9 seconds. What’s also impressive is the 4.5 m³ bucket capacity and a dumping clearance of 2,915 mm at a 45° tilt.
The Hyundai Hi-Mate Remote Management System is a GPS-based software system that enables equipment owners and service personnel to track and monitor machines, facilitating preventive maintenance and reducing equipment downtime.
Users can pinpoint machine location using digital mapping and set machine work boundaries, further enhancing overall productivity and cost-efficiency.
Hyundai machines are designed with easy access to components for quick and effortless maintenance procedures. The -9 series is now equipped with a re-designed parallel-mounted, cooler configuration and non-louvered fins to prevent clogging. All coolers are designed with an aluminium bar plate configuration and undergo strict factory testing for thermal shock, impulse and vibration. Top mounted non-louvered aluminium air condensers and variable displacement A/C compressors are designed for maximum cooling capacity, energy savings and easy maintenance.
The reversible swing-out cooling engine fan is integrated into the rear door for easy access and regular maintenance and the conveniently located coolant and transmission oil site gauges enable fast and efficient checking of fluid levels. In addition, groundline access to critical service points, filters and sight gauges facilitates easy maintenance.
The Hyundai -9 series cabin has been designed for greater operator comfort, which translates into higher productivity. A key feature of the low-vibration operator’s cab is the convenient cluster design of electronic controls and monitoring functions, resulting in improved operator accuracy and efficiency. These machines have also been designed for improved visibility to improve safety on site.
HPE Africa also supplies and supports Soosan hydraulic breakers and quick couplers, which are complimentary attachments to Hyundai construction equipment.
