Trina Solar has announced that it will partner with utility scale renewable energy provider SOLA and WBHO Construction on the transformative Merak 1 project in South Africa.
Trina Solar will supply the project with 205,161 of its advanced Vertex modules, ultimately powering the operations of African Rainbow Minerals, one of the country’s leading mining companies. The project is set to be operational by the end of 2024.
Zaheer Khan, Trina’s regional director for southern Africa, commented: “We are delighted to be part of this project and to supply it with 135MW of our 210mm p-type bifacial Vertex modules. This collaboration showcases our commitment to advancing clean energy solutions tailored to the country’s industrial needs and delivering high-power, high-efficiency and reliable solar solutions. The project marks our inaugural foray into South Africa’s utility-scale sector.”
