AACC President Duncan Harris said the calibre of speaker reflects the growing significance of the two-way links between Australia and continental Africa.

“The recent news of the African Union (AU) being permanently admitted as members of the G20 underscores the growing economic significance and potential of the African continent on the global stage, with G20 membership making the 55-member bloc of African nations only the second regional organization to become a permanent member. The African Union is also the world’s largest free trade area,” said Mr Harris.

“Permanent membership of the G20 is a powerful statement, with the African Union joining the European Union as the only regional organisation members, which will see an increase in trade opportunities for the AU with Australia and the world.

“The partnership between Australia and Africa has seen consistent growth over the years and the inclusion of the AU into the G20 is a testament to the unity, strength, and potential of African nations.”

The inaugural Australia Africa Business Summit, at Melbourne’s Convention and Exhibition Centre, Australia from October 10-12 Summit, the AACC is focused on deepening business ties between Australia and African nations.
