London, UK – UK–Africa trade reached £45 billion in 2024, according to the UK Department for Business and Trade. South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, Kenya, and Ghana emerged as top partners, with exports ranging from agricultural produce and textiles to refined minerals and energy products.
British firms are increasingly sourcing from African exporters under the UK’s Developing Countries Trading Scheme, which offers tariff-free access for eligible goods. The scheme has boosted demand for cocoa, tea, processed metals, and apparel, while African exporters benefit from simplified documentation and digital customs integration.
The UK is also investing in trade facilitation infrastructure, including cold chain logistics and port upgrades, to support African exporters. Analysts expect further growth in 2025 as bilateral trade agreements expand and digital platforms streamline export operations.
