Limited Slip Diff gives Bundu forklifts traction for tough African terrain

Robust Bundu G3 Series 3-ton and 3.5-ton counterbalanced rough terrain forklifts combine advanced traction control with proven Japanese engine technology, to perform efficiently and safely, where conventional warehouse forklifts struggle to operate.
“Power delivery is managed through a Limited Slip Differential (LSD) that automatically distributes torque between the drive wheels and prevents one wheel from spinning freely when it loses grip,” explains Kobus Cronje, General Manager, Shamrock Handling Concepts. “The LSD system allows operators to work loaded machines on gravel or grass and to work through rainy conditions, without getting stuck or damaging surfaces.
“Power flows through a 1:1 power-shift manual transmission with integrated LSD in a 4×2 configuration. Unlike traditional 4×4 systems, this setup reduces mechanical complexity and maintenance requirements. The efficient design also reduces tyre wear, while improving safety in arduous conditions.
“Each Bundu unit is powered by a quality-branded Isuzu industrial diesel engine, selected for its durability, fuel efficiency and steady torque under load. The combination of Isuzu reliability and LSD traction gives Bundu rough terrain forklifts a clear advantage in high-temperature and dusty environments. Typical applications are in outdoor yards, construction sites and in agricultural loading areas, where surface conditions can be challenging.”
Both models feature the Isuzu 4JG2-PE01 industrial diesel engine, delivering 44.9 kW at 2 450 rpm. The four-cylinder naturally aspirated unit provides 186.3 Nm torque at 1,600 -1,800 rpm, with dual-stage air filtration suited to high-dust environments.
Standard equipment includes full suspension seats, adjustable steering columns, fold-back overhead guards, tilt cylinder self-locking valves and a full LCD instrument panel. The Bundu intelligent fleet management system tracks operating hours and service intervals. Optional configurations include integral cabs with heating or air conditioning. The low-vibration chassis designs to reduce operator fatigue during extended shifts
