Thirty South African agro-processing companies are making their mark today at the Anuga International Trade Fair in Cologne, Germany, which runs until October 8, 2025. The delegation, supported by the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) through the Export Marketing and Investment Assistance (EMIA) Scheme, is showcasing products ranging from packaged foods to beverages in a bid to secure new export markets.

Deputy Minister Zuko Godlimpi emphasized that the initiative aligns with South Africa’s broader strategy of export-led industrialization. “Our goal is to increase South Africa’s capacity to export diversified, value-added goods and services into competitive global markets,” he said.

Anuga, widely regarded as the world’s largest food and beverage trade fair, has drawn over 7,900 exhibitors and 140,000 trade visitors from more than 200 nations. The 2025 edition is themed Sustainable Growth, highlighting the balance between economic prosperity and environmental responsibility. South Africa’s participation underscores its ambition to position itself as a reliable supplier of processed and packaged food products, particularly in Europe, where demand for sustainable and high-quality food solutions is growing.
