Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – October 3, 2025 – Smallholder farmers across Africa are increasingly adopting regenerative agriculture practices to boost productivity while protecting the environment. This was the key outcome of the Second Roundtable of African Farmers, which brought together farmers from Ivory Coast, Lesotho, Mali, Nigeria, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, Uganda, and Zambia.

Participants stressed that regenerative farming—combining modern tools with traditional methods—can improve soil health, strengthen resilience to climate change, and enhance food security. However, they called for greater access to technology, training, and supportive policies to scale up adoption.

“There is no one-size-fits-all solution,” farmers emphasized, urging governments to adopt evidence-based, outcome-driven policies that empower smallholders. With most of Africa’s food produced by small-scale farmers, regenerative agriculture is being positioned as a key pathway to sustainable growth and climate resilience.
