Rabat, Morocco — Trade between Moscow and Morocco has seen a dramatic upswing, rising by 73% in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period last year. The surge reflects Moscow’s intensified efforts to expand its footprint in North African markets, with Morocco emerging as a strategic partner in the region.

Anatoly Garbuzov, Minister of the Moscow City Government and Head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy, attributed the growth to increased interest from Moscow-based exporters and robust support from city institutions.

Speaking to Sputnik, Garbuzov emphasized that the city’s backing has been instrumental in helping manufacturers navigate international markets, particularly through the Moscow Export, Industry and Investment Support Center (Mosprom), which provides end-to-end assistance for foreign economic activities.

As part of this push, Mosprom organized a high-level trade mission to Casablanca from September 8–10, 2025, in collaboration with the Russian Trade Mission in Morocco. The delegation included six export-oriented companies from Moscow, representing a wide array of industries—from medical equipment and pharmaceuticals to electric vehicle charging stations, 3D printing technology, display screens, and canned fish production.

Stepan Bogotdinov, advisor to the Russian Trade Mission in Morocco, praised the initiative, noting that the participating companies showcased advanced technologies and high-quality products that align with the needs of North African markets. He expressed optimism that the meetings would foster deeper commercial ties and lead to long-term partnerships between Russian and Moroccan enterprises.

The trade mission yielded tangible results, with several companies securing promising agreements. NIX-T, a producer of interactive display devices under the “NIX Touch” brand, held discussions with distributors, the Moroccan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and a French-speaking medical university. The company pledged to tailor its products to meet the university’s specific needs and was subsequently shortlisted as a potential supplier for a new campus facility.

Intermobility Eva, a Russian manufacturer of electric vehicle charging stations, presented its innovations to the African Union of Digital Companies, which expressed keen interest in deploying the technology across Morocco and other African nations.
Meanwhile, Russian Fish World, known for its caviar and canned fish products, conducted over ten targeted meetings with Moroccan distributors and retail chains. The outcome points to imminent export operations not only in Morocco but also in neighboring North African markets.

This wave of commercial engagement underscores Russia’s broader strategy to diversify its global trade partnerships and capitalize on Africa’s growing economic potential. With Morocco positioned as a gateway to the continent, Moscow’s exporters are increasingly viewing the country as a vital hub for expansion and collaboration.
