Türkiye’s trade with Africa is surging, approaching the $10 billion mark in the first half of 2025, according to figures released by the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TİM). Morocco emerged as the largest importer, taking in $1.8 billion worth of Turkish goods between January and June, driven by improving diplomatic ties and Türkiye’s geographic advantage.
Egypt followed with imports totaling $1.6 billion, while Libya stood close behind at $1.3 billion. Other notable destinations included Tunisia ($554.1 million), South Africa ($303.5 million), and Nigeria ($242.3 million).
Export growth compared to the same period in 2024 was most pronounced in Morocco, which saw an increase of $345 million. Libya grew by $262 million, the Democratic Republic of Congo by $103 million, Niger by $91.5 million, and Ghana by $68.1 million.
Chemicals led Türkiye’s export portfolio to Africa, reaching $1.3 billion. This was followed by cereals, grains, oilseeds and related products ($1.2 billion), steel ($942.4 million), textiles and raw materials ($675.5 million), and automotive components ($619 million).
