Dangote Industries Ltd. has reiterated its dedication to achieving self-sufficiency in Nigeria across key sectors, including cement production, agriculture, mining, and petroleum refining.
During an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the 36th Enugu International Trade Fair, Dr. Abayomi Shittu, Regional Sales Director (Southeast) of Dangote Cement, emphasized the company’s commitment to innovation and investment in Nigeria’s economic growth.
“Dangote Industries operates across diverse sectors such as cement, sugar, salt, poly products, real estate, agriculture, logistics, telecommunications, steel, oil, and gas,” Shittu noted. He added that three major subsidiaries—Dangote Cement Plc, Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc, and NASCON Allied Industries Plc—are listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, underscoring the company’s significant investment presence in the country.
Shittu highlighted the impact of Dangote’s initiatives, such as the Sugar Refinery’s out-grower program, which has generated employment for thousands of farmers in local communities. He also pointed to the role of Dangote Fertiliser in strengthening Nigeria’s agricultural sector and the expected economic benefits of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, which is set to drive the development of related industries.
“In addition, we actively recruit engineering and technology graduates, providing them with training across various industrial operations to build local capacity,” Shittu explained.
He commended the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA) for organizing valuable trade fairs, describing the Enugu event as a key platform due to the state’s industrial significance in the Southeast and South-South regions.
“ECCIMA trade fairs offer industries like ours a unique chance to engage with customers and partners from across these regions,” Shittu remarked.
The ongoing 36th Enugu International Trade Fair continues to attract major players in various industries, showcasing opportunities for investment and fostering business collaborations.
