August 2024 – Impala Rustenburg’s highly anticipated Career Expo is making an impactful return this year and will reach more than 2 200 pupils from 14 high schools in the company’s neighbouring communities. Scheduled to run from 1 to 26 August, Impala’s initiative aims to inspire and guide Grade 11 students to consider the many career opportunities available in the broader mining industry.

Since its inception, the Impala Career Expo has played a pivotal role in empowering local youth by providing valuable insights and outlining opportunities in mining-related careers. Over the years, it has positively influenced thousands of learners, nurtured their ambitions and prepared them for future success.

This year, the Impala Career Expo continues its mission to reach Grade 11 students, who are at a critically important phase in their schooling and are already planning their post-matric journey. Visitors to the expo can look forward to a dynamic and technology-driven experience, featuring immersive activities such as virtual reality tours of underground mines and interactive sessions, which offer first-hand glimpses into various mining professions.

In addition to showcasing diverse career opportunities, the expo will spotlight Impala’s extensive youth empowerment initiatives. These include on-the-job training, graduate internships spanning various disciplines, specialised job category learnerships, cadet programmes aimed at cultivating essential mining skills, and robust enterprise and supplier development initiatives to support young entrepreneurs from local communities.

Commenting on the expo, Moses Motlhageng, Chief Executive of Impala Rustenburg, emphasised its role in shaping the future of local communities: “The Impala Career Expo serves as a beacon of hope and opportunity for our youth, equipping them with the knowledge and motivation to make informed decisions about their futures. By nurturing talent and fostering youth development, we demonstrate our commitment to creating a brighter future for our communities.”

The return of the Impala Career Expo underscores Impala Rustenburg’s steadfast dedication to improving educational outcomes, empowering youth and enriching communities, and reaffirms the pivotal role the company plays in driving regional socio-economic progress.
