Caála — At least fifteen tractors with trailers and tools were delivered Saturday in Huambo province to the same number of rural cooperatives made up of former military personnel, in order to boost agricultural production, ANGOP learned.
The production equipment was given by the governor of Huambo province, Lotti Nolika, in the presence of the State Secretary for Social Action, Lúcio Amaral, to former soldiers from the municipalities of Bailundo, Caála, Cachiungo, Chicala-Cholohanga, Ecunha, Huambo and Mungo.
These cooperatives produce, on average, 100 to 5,000 hectares of arable land, mainly cereals, tubers, pulses, vegetables and various fruits.
As part of this programme, which will soon include, although indirectly, 1,838 citizens in the job market, bank loans estimated at 10 million kwanzas, with a fixed rate of 10 percent, are expected to be provided.
The Secretary of State for Social Action, Lúcio Amaral, said that the tractors distribution process represents a recognition gesture to the effort consented by the ex-military in favour of the Nation.
